Ukraine downed 17 Russian drones in Odesa region

In a significant display of defense capabilities, Ukrainian forces have successfully downed 17 Russian drones over the southern Odesa region. Officials have confirmed that the strikes caused damage to buildings in a district along the Danube River, which shares a border with NATO member Romania.

Governor Oleg Kiper of the Odesa region took to Telegram to announce the successful interception of the drones. “Seventeen drones were shot down by our air defense forces,” he stated, reassuring the public that there were no civilian casualties resulting from the incident.

The Izmail district, located within the affected area, experienced the brunt of the attacks. Warehouses, production buildings, agricultural machinery, and equipment of industrial enterprises were among the structures damaged during the assault. The extent of the destruction is yet to be fully assessed, but local authorities are working diligently to evaluate the situation and provide necessary support to affected residents and businesses.

Ukraine’s military has identified the drones used in the attack as Iranian-made Shahed drones. The scale of the assault has been described as “massive” by Ukrainian defense officials, highlighting the severity of the threat posed by Russian forces.
