Bamboutos Football Club has officially acknowledged and accepted the suspension imposed upon them by the Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT). However, the club has now demanded that FECAFOOT address the outstanding debts owed to them, amounting to a total of 121 million FCFA.

In a letter addressed to the president of FECAFOOT, Samuel Eto’o Fils, Bamboutos FC made their claim for payment. The letter stated that the requested payments “relate to the different activities and movements of our team for the 2021-2022 and 2022-2023 seasons.”

The ongoing saga between FECAFOOT and Bamboutos FC began on August 15 when the Confederation of African Football (CAF) confirmed FECAFOOT’s decision not to grant Bamboutos FC of Mbouda a license to participate in the 2023-2024 CAF interclub competitions.

In response, Bamboutos FC filed a request to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) on August 16, seeking provisional and conservatory measures in their appeal against CAF and FECAFOOT regarding the license denial. However, their request was swiftly rejected by the Court of Arbitration on August 18.

Having accepted their suspension and digested FECAFOOT’s decisions, Bamboutos FC is now calling on the federation to refund the sum of 121 million CFA owed to them. The club is seeking resolution and fair treatment in this matter.

It remains to be seen how FECAFOOT will respond to Bamboutos FC’s demand for payment. The outcome of this dispute will have implications not only for the club but also for the broader football community in Cameroon.
